The backbends are a group of yoga poses that aim at strengthening the upper and lower back. These poses are also helpful in achieving a good posture. Some  of the poses are the Bow pose, Bridge pose, Camel pose, Cobra pose, Cow pose, Feathered Peacock pose, Fish pose, Half Frog pose, King Pigeon pose, Locust pose, Lord of the Dance pose, One-legged King Pigeon pose,  Sphinx Pose, Upward Facing Dog pose, Upward-facing Two-foot Staff pose and Wild Thing. It is possible for some of the poses to belong to other categories because the aim of all yoga poses is the betterment of the body all over. Most of these bends will help in the alignment of bones as well as with relieving back pains. Make sure that you have warmed up with a few other bends before stretching using backbends.
